Description:
Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) tree is native to Central and South America. This tree is regarded as the revered tree. It grows in northern Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, and the coastal dry forests of Ecuador. The largest producer of this oil in Ecuador.

To get palo santo of the best quality, the wood must be fully matured deadwood. The Common method of extraction is the steam distillation of aged and fallen deadwood.

The major active ingredients in Palo Santo essential oil are limonene and α-terpineol. Palo Santo has a very high concentration of both limonene and α-terpineol which give it a distinctive smell of citrus, pine, and mint. These two constituents (limonene and α-terpineol) are strong anti-inflammatory compounds that regulate the immune system. In perfumery, the oil is used as a middle note.
