Description:
Thyme oil (Thymus Vulgaris ct thymol) is native to Southern Europe and has worldwide cultivation. However, the best yields are often achieved in countries with Mediterranean climates, that is mild climates with full sun and a long growing season like Spain, France, and Morocco.

Thymus Vulgaris ct thymol is also called White thyme. Thyme is a frost-resistant perennial plant, drought-tolerant, and can be grown without an artificial water supply. Thyme plants can grow in all well-drained soils, pH should be from 5 to 8. The best yields are often achieved in calcareous light soils with a pH of about 7. The plants can be propagated from seeds or cuttings. Thyme is a plant that can grow well in an average environment.

Thymus vulgaris ct thymol essential oil is extracted from the leaves and flowering tops by steam distillation. The yield is from 0.5 to 1%. The essential oil is pale yellow. Thyme thymol essential oil contains thymol (47.5%) and p-cymene (20.5%).

In perfumery, this oil is used as a middle note.
