Description:
Neroli essential oil is extracted from the flowers of Bitter orange trees (Citrus aurantium).

NOTE: there are three essential oils derived from this same tree i.e. Bitter orange trees. These oils are as under:
(i) Orange oil: This oil is extracted from the orange peels.
(ii) Petitgrain oil: This oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of bitter orange trees
(iii) Neroli oil: This oil is extracted from the flowers.

The bitter orange tree is a native of southern China, Eastern Africa, and India.

The oil is extracted from the flowers by steam distillation and the yields of the Neroli essential oil is from 0.04 to 0.15%. Neroli oil is sweet, honeyed, green, and spicy, mainly used in perfumery. Neroli oil can be used topically, to soothe skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes.

Cultivation and Harvesting:
The Bitter Orange tree is an evergreen tree with long but blunt spines and fragrant flowers. It is cultivated primarily for its flowers (Neroli oil), fruits (orange peel oil), and leaves (Petitgrain oil). Commercial cultivation of Neroli trees is observed in Tunisia, Florida, France, Egypt, Morocco, and some countries in Asia. The main center for the production of Neroli oil is Italy, France, Comoro Islands, Tunisia, Morocco, Guinea, Haiti, Algeria, Spain, Guinea, Egypt, and a few other counties.

Odor profile:
Floral, citrusy, sweet, and exotic

Nerolidol, Linalool, Linalyl Acetate, Nerol, Terpineol, Geraniol, Geranyl Acetate, Methyl anthranilate, Limonene, Ocimene, Pinene, Citronellol, Camphene, Sabinene, β-citral, Myrcene.

Application:
~ Neroli essential oil is Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Antidepressant, Antibacterial, Carminative, Digestive, Nervine, Deodorant, Anti-inflammatory.
