Description:
Backhousia citriodora is an Australian native flowering plant. Naturally growing in sub-tropical rainforests of south-eastern Queensland.
Lemon myrtle is also known as Sweet Verbena Tree and Lemon Scented Myrtle. The leaves of the Lemon Myrtle, contain the highest natural source of citral.
The common method of essential oil extraction is the steam distillation of leaves. The leaves of Backhousia citriodora contain 0.30% to 0.92% essential oil. In Backhousia citriodora essential oil, the total citral content is more than 80% (40% neral -alpha citral and 50% geranial -beta citral).

Geranial, Neral, Isogeranial, Isoneral, 6-Methyl-5-hepten-2-one, Linalool, myrcene, and cis -isocitral.
Application:

~ Citral which is having its cleansing properties, therefore, it is used in cleaning products such as skin and Homecare products, reducing and control the growth of book worm, moths, and creepy crawlies
