Description:
Labdanum is shrubs western Mediterranean Region to the Middle East which is also known as rock rose.
Labdanum is a sticky resin produced by the leaves and stems. The essential oil is extracted from the resin.
The yield of labdanum essential oil is from 0.8 to 2%.
Odor profile:
Balsamic, woody, herbaceous, and slightly spicy
Major Constituents:
Pinene, Camphene, Hexen-1-ol, Trimethylcyclohexanone, Bornyl Acetate, viridiflorol, viridiflorol, bornyl acetate, γ‐cadinene, β‐farnesene, eudesmol, Tricyclene, Camphene, 5,7-di-epi-α-Eudesmol, Borneol, 4-Terpineol, Myrtenol, fenchone , Viridiflorol, and δ-Cadinene.
Application:
~ Labdanum essential oil is generally used in the perfume industry.
~ The oil has not many therapeutic benefits as such but it is very useful in aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy:
Labdanum essential oil is used to cure anxiety, depression, mental issues, and other emotional disorders. This is also used for making incense sticks. This oil has antiseptic, anti-microbial, sedative, and astringent properties.
