Description:
Hyssopus officinalis is a perennial plant that is native to the Mediterranean Sea region.

Hyssop essential oil content changes during different stages of plant growth. Maximum oil yield (1.7% approx.) at the full blooming stage, whereas the lowest yield (0.6% approx.) of the oil is at the vegetative stage. Essential oil is distilled from the herb: Leaves, Flowers, and Buds.

The main components of hyssop oil were cis-pinocamphone, trans-pinocamphone, beta-pinene, germacrene D, and elemol. Content of Trans-pinocamphone was higher in the vegetative stage, but its content decreases along with the growth of the plant, whereas the content of cis-pinocamphone increases up to the full blooming stage.

Odor profile:
Earthy, woody, slightly sweet and camphorous

Cis-pinocamphone, trans-pinocamphone , pinene, ger-macrene D, elemol, myrtenol, sabinene,myrcene, phellandrene, caryophyllene, caryophyllene Oxide.

Application:
~ Hyssop oil is useful in various ailments such as Bronchitis, Colds, Influenza, Coughs, Catarrh, Asthma, Bronchial Infections, Contusions, Muscular Aches, Bruising, Wounds, Arthritis, Rheumatism, and Pains.

Aromatherapy:
It is used in aromatherapy for mood-enhancing. It is also used as reduces skin irritation, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory activity, in respiratory conditions, stimulating and warming the body.
