Description:
Zingiber officinale is native to China. It is cultivated in India, West Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, the West Indies, and other parts of the world.
The oil is extracted from the root (rhizome) and the oil yield is about 1.5–2.8 %.
The essential oil has various chemical constituents such as Zingiberene, Pinene, Borneol, Camphene, 1,8-Cineole, Linalool, Terpineol, Nerol, Geraniol, Bisabolene, Geranial, and Geranyl acetate.
The oil is generally used to cure inflammation, relieves pain from arthritis or sore muscles, and headaches.
