Description:
Eucalyptus polybractea is commonly known as the blue-leaved mallee or simply blue mallee, endemic to south-eastern Australia. In India, it is cultivated in Nilgiri hills in the Western Ghats region of Tamil Nadu.

Eucalyptus polybractea leaves are used to produce eucalyptus oil with very high levels of cineole (up to 90%).

Essential oil yield is 0.7-3.5% and the major constituents are Cryptone, spathulenol, para cymene, 1,8 cineole.

The oil is primarily used in medicine and flavoring.

Application:
~ Eucalyptus cryptone oil with very high levels(up to 90%) of 1,8-cineole(eucalyptol), the compound that’s responsible for its sharp and its medicinal value have strong antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal action, which may explain its traditional use as a treatment for respiratory ailments, making rubs and inhalators and other pharmaceutical preparation.
~ It is an effective insect repellent and antibacterial is used to treat burns, blisters, cuts, and wounds.
~ This essential oil is also used in the manufacturing of toothpaste, mouthwashes, cough drops and as a food flavouring.

Aromatherapy:
It is used in massage oil for the temporary relief of headache, Rheumatism, Arthritis, and muscular pain. It can be used as an inhalation for the temporary relief of coughs and colds, flu, sinusitis, and mucous congestion. Eucalyptus cryptone oil is Energizing, Purifying, and Balancing. .
