Description:
Costmary has a Eurasian origin and there have been reported different habitats for this plant. Costmary is cultivation in Iran, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Romania, Spain, and England. Now, it is distributed in South and South-East of Europe and South-West of Asia but naturalized in most parts of the world.

Costmary essential oil is extracted from the leaves and flowers of the costmary plant generally by the steam distillation process. The plant and its aerial parts constitute up to 1.5% of the essential oil.

The main constituents of the Costmary essential oil were Carvone, α-thujone, and β-bisabolene.

The essential oil has been used for therapeutic purposes as anti-allergic, hepatoprotective, and sedative.

Sweet-minty and Herbal.

Application:

~ Quercetin, a component of costmary oil having anti-inflammatory properties that prevents inflammation, reduces pain, swelling, and redness.
~ β-caryophyllene, an anti-cariogenic compound present in costmary oil prevents the formation of cavities in teeth thereby. It prevents tooth decay.
