Description:
Ambergris oil is an animal origin obtained from Sperm whales, Physeter macrocephalus, occur in all oceans of the world.

Ambergris is a solid waxy material generated in the intestine of Physeter macrocephalus. Sperm whales usually vomit this solid waxy material through the mouth.

Freshly produced ambergris has a fecal odor, but it becomes a sweet earthy fragrance as it ages.

Ambergris oil is extracted from ambergris solid waxy material having animalic and musk notes.

It has been highly valued by perfumers as a fixative which increases the stability of fragrance much longer duration.

Ambergris is primarily found in the Atlantic Ocean and on the coasts of South Africa, Brazil, Madagascar, the East Indies, India, and other ocean all over the world. Most commercially collected ambergris comes from the Bahamas in the Atlantic.

Odor profile:
Sweet, floral, woody, and musky. The characteristic musk-like odor is due to the presence of ambrettolide.

Major Constituents:
Ambroxan, Ambrein, Ambroxide and Ambrinol.

Application:
It is used in making Attar, Spray perfume in perfumery it works as a fixative imparting marine, animalic, and musk notes to perfumes.
