Description:
Khus grows naturally in northern India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and other countries of South-East Asia. It is also cultivated for commercial production of Khus essential oil in India, China, Brazil Haiti, and West Java, etc. Khus is also known as Vetiver.

Khus essential oil is extracted from its roots. The yield of essential oil is from 0.3 to 0.8% of oil.

Odor profile:
woody, earthy, balsam amber

Major Constituents:
Beta-Vatirenene, Valerenol, Germacrene D, Longiverbenone, Alloaromadendrene, Alpha-Copaene, Alpha – Amorphene, Selin-6-en-4-o, Alpha–Longipinene, bete – Copaene, Alpha –Ylangene, Alpha – Gurjunene Gamma-himachalene, Nootkatone, and Globulol.

Application:
~ Khus essential oil is used in the manufacture of a variety of industrial products of the FMCG category i.e. cosmetics, soaps, detergents, toiletries, agarbatti, perfumery, pan masala, tobacco, soft drinks, and other food items, etc.
~ It is a good fixative for perfumery compounds.

Aromatherapy:
In aromatherapy vetiver oil has a relaxing effect on the nervous system, easing tension and stress. It is effective in the treatment of insomnia. Khus oil when used in baths, inhalation, or in massage, is beneficial in the treatment of rheumatism, chronic body pain arthritis, nervous system, circulatory system, overcome from depression, insomnia, and stiff muscles.
