Description:
Kewda is native to tropical South Asia, Southeast Asia and India. It is naturally occuring in the coastal area and forest of many countries like Polynesia, Micronesia, New Guinea, Melanesia, northern Australia, Philippines, Indonesia and other Southeast Asia countries etc. In India Kewda essential oil is produced in Orissa state.
The male and female flowers are produced on different plants. The plants flower three times in a year i.e. summer, monsoon, and winter. Only male flowers are harvested to extract the kewda essential oil.
Kewda essential oil is extracted from the flower part of the plant. The essential oil yield is from 0.017% to 0.028%.

Phenyl ethyl methyl ether, Terpinen-4-Ol, Terpineol, Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol terpinen‐4‐ol, α‐terpineol, benzyl benzoate.
Application:

The therapeutic properties of Kewda oil has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. It gives relief from joint and muscular pains being an anti-inflammatory agent.
