Description:
Helichrysum italicum (Immortelle) is native to central and southern Europe, North Africa (Algeria, Morocco), Poland, the Mediterranean region, and Turkey. It is cultivated in Greece, Yugoslavia, Italy, Croatia, Corsica, Serbia, Cyprus. Helichrysum oil is also known as Everlasting or Immortelle oil.

One of the reasons why Helichrysum is also called “Immortelle” is its flowers retain their color and shape after drying, making them a popular flower for long-lasting natural flower arrangements.

Flower yield essential oil ranging from 0.15 to 0.8%. Essential oil is extracted on a commercial basis in the Mediterranean areas, Africa, Central Asia, parts of Southern Europe, etc. In some countries like Croatia, Bosnia, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, it is grown for commercial purposes and extraction of essential oil.

One of the important constituent of essential oil is italidiones responsible for Helichrysum essential oil’s anti-inflammatory action.

Application:
~ Helichrysum essential oil uses for Anti Inflammatory, Anti Allergenic, Anti Microbial, Anti Septic, Anti Spasmodic, Diuretic, to treat acne and sunburns.
~ It also lightens the scars and spots on the skin, if applied directly in 5% dilution with a carrier oil.
~Helichrysum oil also improves hair texture and softness. It prevents hair loss and greying.
