Flowers are used for the extraction of essential oil. The yields of essential oil vary from 0.5 to 2.5%. The main components of hops essential oils are myrcene, humulene, and caryophyllene. Myrcene is responsible for the pungent smell of fresh hops oil. Together with myrcene, humulene, and caryophyllene represent 80 to 90% of the total hops essential oil.
